Great night at Copeyre and not as hot as we thought it was going to be . Woke to some sunshine and would have been tempted to have a canoe from here but the centre 50m away didn’t open and the weather clouded up . So after a relaxing few hours we spent the rest of the morning exploring the area, which was lovelly and is worth another visit :) We found a nice drive along a narrow rock covered road between Gluges and Creysse . Visited several old towns including Meyronne,Floirac,Vayrac but the best was Carennac where we stopped for a walk along the river and through the narrow streets with many old buildings !!! We ended up back at Copeyre for dinner before setting off for Gruissan gone two !!! the first section to Figeac and then Rodez was slow going but once we hit the motorway just above Millau we made good time and were in Gruissan Plage at about seven  The rain that fell on the motorway had stopped and the sun was coming out again. We had a ride around looking for somewhere to stop – Gruissan is well catered for camper van with two aires but that is not our scene !!! free with a view is best :) We ended up just outside Gruissan up in the rocky hills overlooking the salt beds surrounded by pines and vineyards !!!! We parked uo at eight and set off up the footpath by the van and spent over an hor scrambling over rocky paths bug and flower spotting with great views over the sea, salt beds and the Etang de I’Ayrolle  we lost the path for a while and had to climb over rock walls and came across several stone hids used by hunters we think !!!!
The wind seems to be picking up so fingers crossed for a couple of days windsurfing and some sunshine would be nice as it’s been in short supply so far !!! The only problem I have got is getting through the rock chicane to get on the beach – this is where I damaged our van a couple of years ago and try not to get stuck in the sand for the second time this holiday !!!!
Good news :) we have driven over 1000 miles and only paid 6 Euro’s in road tolls so far and haven’t paid more than 1.30 a lt. For diesel – that’s good old supermarket prices for you – motorway diesel 1.50 !!!!!!
